Kristina Proctor's Laboratory

Project

Currently I am working on a research project with Dr. Kristina Proctor under the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) grant. Dr. Proctor's research interests include surface characterization and performance assessment of chemically modified metal-oxides employed as catalysts and substrates for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). HPLC is the predominant analytical tool used to study chemical components within environmental and biological samples, and as such is employed extensively by the pharmaceutical industry, biomedical research, etc. The research involves innovative synthetic approaches to modifying the surface of silica based oxides, characterization of modified substrates using surface selective techniques in Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and HPLC performance assessment of the materials developed.
In March of 1999 our research group went to the annual American Chemical Society meeting in Anaheim, California to do a poster presentation on our current research findings. In March of 2000 our research team is planning on attending the annual American Chemical Society meeting to present our current research findings by doing a poster presentation.
Some of my hobbies include: swimming, dancing, volleyball, water skiing, and bike riding.
